The Limbic System: commands certain behaviors that are necessary for the survival of all mammals. It gives rise to and modulates specific functions that allow the animal to distinguish between the agreeable and the disagreeable. Emotions and feelings like wrath, fright, passion, love, hate, joy and sadness, are all mammalian inventions.

We have asked artists Joanne Dawson, Caitlin Merrett King, Richard Hughes, Tenant of Culture, Elena Gilev, and Corey Bartle Sanderson to respond to 1 of the 6 main individual areas of The Limbic System. All areas in the system interconnect intensively, yet none are solely responsible for any specific emotional state as a whole.

Limbic is the first in a programme of shows and events by Cuddle Projects, a new artist-led organisation based in SE London, integrating emerging artists from across the UK.
