Art Hub Studios x The Collective Makers
Free Studio Award 2024

Part funded by the Royal Borough of Greenwich for Black History 365

2021 Award Winner - Carl Dusu

As part of Art Hub Studios commitment to creating inclusive and affordable art opportunities, we offer an annual free studio to a resident from the Royal Borough of Greenwich, who identifies as Black-African, Black-Caribbean, Mixed-Heritage or from the African Diaspora.
The free studio is part of our Studio Support Pledge, started in 2021 as a reaction to covid-19 and the disproportionate effect this had on people working in the arts. Since then we have invested £7000 providing free studios to Greenwich residents.

This opportunity is aimed at someone who has an invested interest in making and exploring art through drawing, painting, sculpture, illustration, graphic design, collage or a mixture of everything. Whoever you are, we want someone who is going to use the studio to its full potential and actively engage with our community of creative practitioners.

You don’t need to have any formal art education to apply.

Deadline: Friday 12 January 2024, 12am (Midnight)

Why we do it.

Currently 23% of our Studio Members identify as people of colour with 20% identifying as coming from a low socio-economic background. As a studio group we have identified diversity within our studios as an area we can improve. The free studio is part of this ongoing improvement. In order to help us target and discover creatives who would benefit from this opportunity we collaborate with local organisation The Collective Makers. TCM are a black led organisation who campaign to improve diversity within the art sector, to raise artist profiles and to seek new platforms and partnerships in the art industry.
