Three artists of different disciplines collaborate on a show that entices the title Wake Up

Our common theme works with the idea that society and political structures are fed to us as normal. This form of mythical progression is inevitable and affects all our lives. The work raises thought provoking ideas and questions them through a variety of art media.

We will be present at the exhibition to discuss its themes of Gentrification, oil and weaponization and the historical / psychological impact of growing up being queer and excluded from societies mainstream narrative. All things which can affect our health and well-being in a challenging world.

In Deptford, the local diverse community is changing from its working-class roots partly due to the impact of Gentrification. This has a social and economic impact on the old community as prices and the cost-of-living rises.

Arts Hub Studios and gallery is being closed under the premise of progression, which makes the timing and gallery space more poignant for this exhibition. The artist community that has evolved in the area are now having to disperse.

We may not be able to change these forces but recognising them and acknowledging them is one way for protecting our mental health and shared experience.
